GuatemalaOf the infamous violence I saw exactly nothing in Guatemala. Fact is that all the people I met along the way were so nice that I wondered how this country could possibly have experienced all the atrocities during the Civil War, or in recent years having earned the reputation of being a violent society.That said, the news papers I read were full of notices of robbery and lethal crimes every day, so I guess it comes down being lucky, and to knowing which areas to explore and which to avoid. I am sure that the country have a fair deal of natural beauty, although clouds more than often hid the best views from me when I visited. |
